MeetBrief Privacy Policy

MeetBrief ("the App") is a meeting recording, transcription, and summarization app for macOS and iOS. This policy explains what information the App accesses, how it is used, and your choices.

Summary

MeetBrief is designed to keep your recordings and transcripts on your device. We do not operate user accounts, and we do not use analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs of any kind.

Information the App Accesses

• Microphone audio — used to record your voice during a meeting.
• System / app audio — used (via the system Broadcast feature on iOS, or system audio capture on macOS) to record the other participants' audio during a meeting.

Recordings, transcripts, and generated summaries are stored locally on your device (in the App's local document storage). They are not uploaded to or stored on MeetBrief's servers. You can delete any recording at any time from within the App, which permanently removes the associated audio, transcript, and summary files from your device.

Transcription

Audio is transcribed on-device using an on-device speech recognition model (WhisperKit). Audio is not sent to a server in order to produce a transcript.

AI-Generated Summaries

MeetBrief can generate a written summary of your transcript using an OpenAI language model. Depending on how you use the App, this happens in one of two ways:

• Bring Your Own Key (BYOK): if you provide your own OpenAI API key in Settings, your transcript text is sent directly from your device to OpenAI's API using your key to generate the summary. Your API key is stored locally on your device and is never sent to MeetBrief's servers.
• Basic / Pro subscription: if you have an active MeetBrief subscription and have not provided your own API key, your transcript text is sent to MeetBrief's backend service, which forwards it to OpenAI's API to generate a summary and returns the result to your device. The transcript is processed only to generate the summary and is not stored by MeetBrief's backend.

In either case, transcript text sent for summarization is subject to OpenAI's privacy policy.

Subscriptions and Purchases

Subscriptions and in-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. MeetBrief does not receive or store your payment information. To verify an active subscription for the backend summarization service described above, the App sends Apple's cryptographically signed transaction receipt to MeetBrief's backend, which validates the signature and checks the subscription's product and expiration date. This receipt does not contain payment details.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your data. The only third parties involved in processing your data are:

• Apple — for app distribution, purchases, and on-device speech recognition.
• OpenAI — for generating summaries from transcript text, as described above.
• Cloudflare — hosts the backend service used for Basic/Pro subscription summaries.

Children's Privacy

MeetBrief is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Data Retention and Deletion

All recordings, transcripts, and summaries remain on your device until you delete them. Deleting the App from your device removes all locally stored recordings, transcripts, and summaries.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted at this URL with an updated "Last updated" date.
